VLCCX Investment Objective and Strategy
Large Cap Core Fund describes its objective and strategy as follows, from its latest prospectus filed with the SEC by VALIC Co I.
Investment objective
The Fund seeks capital growth with the potential for current income.
Principal investment strategy
The Fund invests, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets in the common stocks of large-cap U.S. companies. The Fund invests in equity securities of U.S. companies that have large market capitalizations (generally over $2 billion) that the Subadviser believes are undervalued and have the potential for long-term growth and current income. In addition, the Fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in foreign securities, including depositary receipts. Depositary receipts are receipts issued by a bank or trust company reflecting ownership of underlying securities issued by foreign companies. The Fund may from time to time emphasize one or more sectors in selecting its investments, including the financial services sector and the information technology and technology-related sectors.
In order to generate additional income, the Fund may lend portfolio securities to broker-dealers and other financial institutions provided that the value of the loaned securities does not exceed 30% of the Funds total assets. These loans earn income for the Fund and are collateralized by cash, securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. Government or its agencies or instrumentalities, and such other securities as the Fund and the securities lending agent may agree upon. Investors will be given at least 60 days written notice in advance of any change to the Funds 80% investment policy set forth above.
