PIXEX Investment Objective and Strategy

International Emerging Markets Fund describes its objective and strategy as follows, from its latest prospectus filed with the SEC by Principal Funds, Inc..

Investment objective

The Fund seeks long-term growth of capital.

Principal investment strategy

"Under normal circumstances, the Fund invests at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in equity securities of emerging market companies at the time of purchase. The Fund considers a security to be tied economically to an emerging market country (an ""emerging market security"") if the issuer of the security has its principal place of business or principal office in an emerging market country, has its principal securities trading market in an emerging market country, or derives a majority of its revenue from emerging market countries. Here, ""emerging market country"" means any country which is considered to be an emerging country by the international financial community (including the MSCI Emerging Markets Index or Bloomberg Barclays Emerging Markets USD Aggregate Bond Index).

These countries generally exclude the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, and most nations located in Western Europe. The Fund invests in equity securities regardless of market capitalization (small, medium or large) and style (growth or value)."
