JMEZX Investment Objective and Strategy

JPMorgan Market Expansion Enhanced Index Fund describes its objective and strategy as follows, from its latest prospectus filed with the SEC by JPMorgan Trust II.

Investment objective

The Fund seeks to provide investment results that correspond to or incrementally exceed the total return performance of an index that tracks the performance of the small- and mid-capitalization equity markets.

Principal investment strategy

Under normal circumstances, the Fund will hold at least 80% of its Assets in stocks in the S&P 1000 Index 1 . Assets means net assets, plus the amount of borrowings for investment purposes. The S&P 1000 Index is an index which includes stocks of small- and mid-capitalization companies. As of the reconstitution of the S&P 1000 Index on September 24, 2018, the market capitalizations of the companies in the index ranged from $87.44 million to $15.12 billion. These securities trade on national exchanges, as well as over-the-counter as part of the National Market System. Because the Fund uses an enhanced index strategy, not all of the stocks in the S&P 1000 Index are included in the Fund, and the Funds position in an individual stock may be overweighted or underweighted when compared to the index.

In addition, the Fund may modestly overweight or underweight the sectors and industries within the index. The Fund seeks returns that modestly exceed those of the S&P 1000 Index over the long term with a modest divergence to the benchmark. In implementing its main strategies, the Fund invests primarily in common stocks and real estate investment trusts (REITs). Derivatives, which are instruments that have a value based on another instrument, exchange rate or index, may be used as substitutes for securities in which the Fund can invest. The Fund may use futures contracts to gain or reduce exposure to its index, maintain liquidity and minimize transaction costs. In managing cash flows, the Fund buys futures contracts to invest incoming cash in the market or sells futures contracts in response to cash outflows, thereby gaining market exposure to the index while maintaining a cash balance for liquidity.

Investment Process: The Fund uses an enhanced index strategy that seeks to provide investment results that correspond to or incrementally exceed the total return performance of the S&P 1000 Index. In managing the Fund, the adviser employs a process that ranks S&P 1000 Index stocks based on its proprietary stock ranking system. The rankings are then reviewed and adjusted utilizing fundamental research conducted by the investment team to enhance accuracy and consistency within constraints on sector and industry weights and position sizes. The adjusted rankings are used to place stocks into portfolios. In general, stocks are purchased when they are among the top ranked within their sector. Stocks become candidates for sale when their ranking falls, when they appear unattractive or when the company is no longer included in the S&P 1000 Index.

1 S&P 1000 Index, is a registered service marks of Standard & Poors Corporation, which does not sponsor and is in no way affiliated with the Fund. The S&P 1000 Index is a market capitalization weighted combination of the Standard & Poors SmallCap 600 and the Standard & Poors MidCap 400 Indexes.
