C000205561 Investment Objective and Strategy

Nuveen Emerging Markets Equity Fund describes its objective and strategy as follows, from its latest prospectus filed with the SEC by Nuveen Investment Trust II.

Investment objective

The investment objective of the Fund is to seek long-term capital appreciation.

Principal investment strategy

Under normal circumstances, the Fund invests at least 80% of the sum of its net assets and the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes in equity securities of emerging market issuers. The Fund will classify securities as those of an emerging market issuer based on the determination of an unaffiliated, recognized financial data provider. Such determinations are based on a number of criteria, such as the issuers country of domicile, the primary exchange on which the security trades, the location from which the majority of the issuers revenue comes and the issuers reporting currency. Emerging market countries include any country other than Canada, the United States and the countries comprising the MSCI EAFE Index (currently, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).

The Fund seeks to invest in high quality companies with strong relative earnings growth, attractive relative valuations and adequate liquidity in emerging market countries. The Fund may invest in small-, mid- and large-cap companies. The Fund may utilize options, including options on foreign currencies, futures contracts, options on futures contracts, and forward foreign currency exchange contracts (derivatives). The Fund may use these derivatives to manage market risk or business risk, enhance the Funds return, or hedge against adverse movements in currency exchange rates.
