C000005018 Investment Objective and Strategy
PF Growth Fund describes its objective and strategy as follows, from its latest prospectus filed with the SEC by Pacific Funds Series Trust.
Investment objective
This Fund seeks long-term growth of capital.
Principal investment strategy
This Fund normally invests primarily in common stocks. The sub-adviser focuses on investing the Funds assets in the stocks of companies it believes to have above average earnings growth potential compared to other companies (also called growth companies). The sub-adviser primarily invests in large-capitalization companies and may also invest in mid-capitalization companies. The Fund may invest up to 25% of its assets in foreign securities. The sub-adviser uses an active bottom-up investment approach to buying and selling investments for the Fund. Investments are selected primarily based on fundamental analysis of individual issuers and their potential in light of their financial condition, and market, economic, political, and regulatory conditions. Factors considered may include analysis of an issuers earnings, cash flows, competitive position, and management ability.
Quantitative screening tools that systematically evaluate an issuers valuation, price and earnings momentum, earnings quality, and other factors, may also be considered. The sub-adviser may sell a holding for a variety of reasons, such as to secure gains, limit losses, or redeploy assets into opportunities believed to be more promising, among others.
