ACIRX Investment Objective and Strategy

International Core Equity Fund describes its objective and strategy as follows, from its latest prospectus filed with the SEC by American Century Quantitative Equity Funds, Inc..

Investment objective

The fund seeks long-term capital growth.

Principal investment strategy

In selecting stocks for the fund, the portfolio managers select from publicly traded companies that are primarily located in developed countries, excluding the United States and Canada, that have characteristics similar to those of the companies that comprise the MSCI EAFE (Europe, Australasia, Far East) Index. The managers use quantitative models in a two-step process to construct the portfolio of stocks for the fund. First, the portfolio managers rank stocks from most attractive to least attractive by using a quantitative model that combines measures that the portfolio managers believe are predictive of an individual stock performance, such as valuation, quality and sentiment. Second, the portfolio managers use a quantitative model to build a portfolio of stocks from the ranking described above that they believe will provide the optimal balance between risk and expected return.

The portfolio managers also intend to spread the funds holdings across different countries and geographic regions in an effort to manage the risks of an international portfolio. Though the fund invests primarily in securities issued by companies located in developed countries, it may also invest in emerging markets. The portfolio managers generally sell a stock when they believe it has become less attractive relative to other opportunities, its risk characteristics outweigh its return opportunity or specific events alter its prospects. Under normal market conditions, at least 80% of the funds net assets will be invested in equity securities. The fund may change this 80% policy only upon 60 days prior written notice to shareholders. The fund may engage in active and frequent trading of portfolio securities to achieve its principal investment strategies.

This may cause higher transaction costs and may affect performance. It may also result in the realization and distribution of capital gains.
